Don’t overlook the data you already have

Most small businesses run marketing like a sprint, head down, full pace, eyes on the next campaign. The results get filed away and the cycle starts again. Nobody stops to look at the pattern forming behind them, not because they are lazy, but because analysis has always felt like something only bigger businesses with dedicated data teams could afford.
That is starting to change, and the numbers show most businesses have not caught up yet. Deloitte's 2025 research found only 5% of SMEs using AI are actually set up to benefit from it, and 46% of AI-using businesses do not even measure whether their tools are working. Deloitte puts the value of closing that gap at $44 billion for the Australian economy. That figure is not sitting in some future technology. It is sitting in the space between what businesses already spend on marketing and what they actually get out of it.
Here is the part that matters most: the data to close that gap already exists. Every campaign run over the past two years, every ad that worked, every audience that converted, every lead that went cold, is already sitting in Meta Ads, Google Ads, GA4, an email platform, a Shopify back end. Nobody needs to go and find this information. What is missing is a system built to read it.
Leads that were never dead, just unfollowed
Most businesses have paid to acquire thousands of leads over the years, and a real share of them were never properly followed up, dropped out of a sequence too early, lost in a busy period, or never given a second campaign. Reactivation built on that existing list typically costs a fraction of new acquisition, because the hardest part, getting someone's attention in the first place, has already happened.
A blueprint sitting in last year's best campaign
The best-performing ads from 18 months ago hold the answer to what creative lands, which audiences convert, and what messaging actually moves people. Most accounts never look back far enough to find it. Pulling those patterns out and applying them to new campaigns shortens the learning curve considerably, rather than re-testing from zero every time.
Creative that got retired for the wrong reasons
High-performing ads usually stop running because a campaign ended or a team member moved on, not because the work stopped working. Refreshed and repurposed at a fraction of the original production cost, that creative often outperforms something built from scratch, because the insight that made it work in the first place has not changed.
Customers who nearly converted twice
People who bought once but never got a meaningful second touchpoint. People who were close to converting and then disappeared. The data to identify exactly who these people are already exists, it just has not been connected to anything.
Being "fully enabled," in Deloitte's terms, is not about owning more tools. It is about connecting the ones already sitting in the account, so a monthly report stops being a summary of the past and starts being an input to what happens next. That is the shift from running marketing to building momentum with it.
We have been building that system at New Beach, first for our own brand Rallee, now for clients. What we find every time is that the most valuable data in the room is the data already in the room. We are currently offering a small number of asset audits for Australian SMEs, a 30-minute conversation mapping what is already in your accounts against what it could be doing. No pitch, just a clear look at what is sitting dormant and what it might be worth.
